Parallels Desktop 17 for Mac starts at $79.99 per year for a new license. So when the OS officially launches later this year, Parallels should be able to run it without problem.

The latest version of Parallels Desktop also includes a virtual TPM chip, a requirement to install the final version of Windows 11. To start the process, either choose New in the File menu of Parallels Desktop, or click on the + sign in the top right corner of the Control Center window. Adding Windows 10 as an additional VM in Parallels Desktop is also easy. On macOS Monterey, you can also drag and drop any content from Windows. Scenario 2: You have Parallels Desktop on your Mac, and you want to add a Windows 10 VM. (See Figure 1.) Figure 1Download and install Windows 10 Once you click Install Windows, there is basically nothing else for you to do. In Parallels Desktop 17 you can now drag and drop text or graphics between Mac and Windows applications, quickly and easily. In either case, both Macs can already run Windows 11 Insider Previews via Parallels after going through several steps. When you first launch Parallels Desktop on a Mac, it will detect that you have no virtual machines and will automatically offer to download and install Windows 10 for you. Now, Parallels Desktop 17 is being released with improved performance on M1 Macs, as well as full support for the upcoming macOS Monterey and Windows 11 operating systems. Intel-based Macs, on the other hand, will be able to run the x86-version of Windows 11 through Parallels. Hence, the experience is largely limited to using ARM-based apps, although Microsoft is working on an ARM emulator to run x86-based Windows apps. But it's also a much-anticipated OS for certain Mac users who can now look forward to it arriving on their systems via Parallels.

However, running Windows 11 on an M1 Mac with Parallels does come with a catch: YouвЂ™ll only be able to run the ARM-based version of Windows 11, not the x86 Intel-compatible version of the operating system. Windows 11 is on Microsoft enthusiasts' minds, as one would expect. One other interesting thing to note: A license for Parallels Desktop also includes Parallels Toolbox, a collection of tools (kind of like power toys if youвЂ™re familiar with the term on Windows) that can be fairly handy, as well as Parallels Access for remote control. These Macs have dropped IntelвЂ™s CPUs and Boot Camp, a free utility to install and run Windows 10 on the computer. Parallels Desktop is especially useful if you own one of AppleвЂ™s newest Macs built with the companyвЂ™s ARM-based M1 chips.
